By all means revise or edit on screen sentence-by-sentence as you compose, but for a serious self-edit put the text aside for at least a couple of days or a week then work it over savagely with a soft pencil on hardcopy.
Craig Munro is a biographer and book historian whose Wild Man of Letters was published to wide acclaim. As UQP’s inaugural fiction editor he launched the careers of both Peter Carey and David Malouf, and was later publisher at UQP. In 2006 he co-edited Paper Empires: A History of the Book in Australia 1946–2005. His publishing memoir Editor at Large is forthcoming, along with Under Cover, his history of Australian book editors. He is currently researching a biography of publisher AG Stephens.
